Book 1 - Second Edition is out
Taking lessons learned in editing book 2 and 3, I turned my attention back to book 1 again. The nice thing about just starting out as a published author is, sadly, there aren't a lot of copies of my books 0ut there. However, I was not going to release this as a new book and instead updated the amazon listing with the new manuscript. So for those of you who already own book 1, all you need to do is remove it from your kindle and re-download it from amazon.
This revision was a long time coming. Over the course of it, I cut more than 27,000 words — and I want to be clear about what that means, because it sounds more dramatic than it was. No plot disappeared. No character lost their moment. Nothing came out that had earned its place on the page.
What went was the excess: the sentences that explained what the scene was already showing, the passages that outstayed their welcome, the dialogue that danced around a feeling when it should have just said the thing. The kind of writing that feels safe in the first draft and cluttered in the fifth.
What remained is the same story, just cleaner. The prose moves better. The characters hit harder. And the world feels like it can breathe again, now that it isn't carrying so much extra weight around with it.
If you read the first edition, I think you'll feel the difference. If this is your first time in — welcome. This is the version I always wanted to give you.
